Welcome To The Beach

Hilton Head Island, we've missed you!  It's that time again, we look forward to this week all year.  Loading up all our gear took on a whole new dimension this year, for sure.  Baby gear, big boy gear, packing was a week long process in the middle of a sleepless fog.  But even though it was hard, we weren't going to miss it.  Caleb, only seven weeks old, was going on his first road trip.  Eight hours later we arrived and the travelling champion award goes to baby!  He did awesome, slept the whole time.  Can I just say I am in love with our minivan?! It made travel so much easier, space for (er, to cram) everything and room to move around as we needed!

The boys were so excited to be back at the beach.  We must have done the "beach countdown" for a month prior to the trip.  Every day- "how many more days 'til we go to the condo?" So, finally, we arrived and couldn't wait. First stop, a dip in the pool for the big guys.  Andrew and I breathed in the humid ocean air, change of scenery and the promise of extra hands and help to love on our kiddos while we got some much needed extra rest.  Thank you Mom and Dad!!!!!

Caleb decided he was perfectly fine chilling poolside with Pops.  This guy has relaxing down pat.  We were thankful for cooler July weather this year that allowed baby to come out late afternoon without getting too hot.  Of course, my little prince had his own personal fan to make sure he stayed cool.

A favorite HHI activity is riding bikes on the numerous bike paths.  This year was the first for the boys to be able ride bikes on the island.  We rented them (matching, of course) red and black bikes and they were beyond excited to make the trek down to the beach.  I was a little nervous, but after some practice, realized they could manage.  The path down to the beach is 1.25 miles each way, but they did great with lots of water breaks!  We practiced a bit in the parking lot before heading out:
