The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

One Month In...

We're getting into the "one year old" groove these days- Logan and Will are 13 months already. January was not a fun month for us with colds being passed around, lots of cold weather and a little snow to boot! Let's just say we are ready for warm weather and getting out a bit more. At their one year checkup Logan weighed 23lbs 8 oz, 30 1/2 inches long and Will 23 lbs 11oz, 30 3/4 inches long.

Since turning one: Logan has cut four teeth and is working on four more! Will cut 8 teeth!!
Both babies are walking- short, wobbly, precious steps. Will is a little more confident with walking and will usually take ten or more at at time, Logan about five steps before deciding it is faster to crawl. They are "talking" more- Will's first word is "ca" for car, Logan's is da for dog. They recognize words and will go find toys when you ask them to (ball, firetruck, drum, blocks, book, train, lion (ride-on). When you ask them if they hear a car or the school bus, they will go to the windows and look out- too cute!
They still love music and reading and spend a lot of time looking at their books. They LOVE their daddy and get visibly excited when they hear him come home- priceless! They both are using more gestures lately- arms in the air for "SO Big," clapping, waving, covering eyes for peek-a-boo, and occasionally signing "more" and "all done." My favorite new gesture is folding their hands to pray. They don't do it all the time but most of the time will put their little hands together when we say it's time to pray. So sweet! Another gesture that I am not loving these days- throwing the sippy cup and sometimes food off the highchair tray- oh my! My floors are always a mess no matter how often I mop. Otherwise, they are awesome eaters and keep me on my toes to keep nutritious food ready for them. (They do not like to wait, we are working on patience!)

Exploration is the game lately- checking out and getting into everything: the laundry basket, the washer/dryer, warming drawer on the oven, book basket, opening and closing drawers, looking under the couches. Note: the appliances are never on while they are exploring! They want to see it all, including going places they are not supposed to. Still working on "mommy says no." I guess that will be a lifelong thing.

We're loving this stage, watching their personalities develop and seeing the joy of discovery on their faces. This month Logan has been the more cuddly, loving one, while Will is becoming a little more independent. Logan has had a rough time with all the new teeth and has needed some extra cuddle time from me. Thankfully, they aren't both needing me at the exact same time- it's tough, but I can hold two babies at once if needed!
