Vacation at Hilton Head

We headed east again this year for our family vacation at Hilton Head, SC. The sunshine, sand and spanish moss in the trees welcomed us back to the island. After packing and loading all our gear and crew, I was not looking forward to the eight hour drive... but, it went better than expected- even with two potty trainees! Logan and Will were so excited to finally get there and had been asking (er, demanding) all week: "Beach Now!!" We couldn't wait to enjoy the pool and late afternoon trips to the beach.

Will enjoying the sand and surf:

Taking a swim break for a quick snack- quite relaxed!

My little fishies loving the pool with Daddy. We have absolutely LOVED their puddle-jumper floats. They love the independence and freedom to move in the water. Will showed us his dare-devil side by wanting to swim without his float. He loved pushing off from the steps to swim underwater to daddy. He was not afraid at all! We had to keep a close eye on him, as he would take off even if no one was there to receive him. I loved to watch his little legs just-a-kicking, almost able to get his head above water! We convinced Logan to swim a couple of times without his float as well, but he was a little more cautious than his brother. Both boys loved jumping off the side of the pool to daddy and Pops.

My handsome guys by the "turtle" pond and pavilion. Logan left, Will right: So intent on finding shells, what concentration!

My sweet Logan (who actually got sick while we were there, we got lots of snuggle time together!)

Going to see the big boats at Harbour Town. The boys were quite impressed with the huge yachts, lighthouse, crane and of course- the ice cream! Maybe next year we can actually sit down to eat diner, maybe? Riding on the red "tra-chee" (trolley) to get into H.T was a big hit as well. They are still talking about it! A fun last night to our vacation!

**Side note- if you ever go to HHI and decide to go to Harbour Town- do not attempt to drive into Sea Pines with a surf board attached to the roof of your car. The polite guardsmen will instruct you (dressed in non beach attire) and your precious two year olds- to turn around and leave only to return once said surf board is removed. Seriously! We forgot Andy's board was already loaded on top of my car, and obviously they were worried we might catch a few waves inside the gated community- HA!! Thankfully our place is only about five minutes away, crisis averted (as we had already been talking up the big boats!!)

Thank you Grammie and Pops for a great vacation week, good food, lots of time with our guys, much needed rest and date night. It is so appreciated. Uncle Tyler, we missed you and hope you get to go with us next year.... Until then, we will be looking forward to our return in 2012.
