See Ya Summer!

This past week we officially said good-bye to summer with a Morrow family trip to the beach. I know most of you have already parted with summer with the start of school, football, etc., but we've been hanging on until it's done! We had a great time in Gulf Shores- hanging out (all 16 1/2 of us!!) Ten adults, six kids and the 1/2 represents baby Ellie who is due to arrive in January! While most of Alabama was getting rained on, we enjoyed beautiful sunny weather. There was only one quick shower during the day that lasted about 15 minutes.

We ate, slept, swam and enjoyed good times together. The best was lying on a pool float in complete quiet while the babies napped upstairs, I was in heaven! We enjoyed breaking in our new double stroller with walks (or should I say off-roading?) on the beach. That thing can go anywhere and is super easy to maneuver. This was great to have during the evenings before dinner and bedtime.

The babies did great during our stay, sleeping and napping well and enjoying all the activity around them. It was nice to get out with them more to swim in the pool and spend late afternoons on the beach. They were laid back babes this trip (except for the car rides- they do not enjoy being in their carseats that long!) They loved being in the pool- this was a nice way to head off late afternoon fussiness. The babies also had their first dip in the ocean! Logan seemed to enjoy sitting in the sand and surf, while Will was a little more hesitant. Maybe next summer?

Hangin' at the beach
The main reason for the trip was a "try it on triathalon" that took place on Saturday morning. It was a mini triathalon that the "kids" wanted to do with their dad. The athletes were Andrew, Mike, Tom, Amie, Russ and Jamie. The race consisted of 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike ride and 2 mile run. The wives and kiddos got to see the last leg of the race, the run. We got there just in time to see them all go by, starting the run portion. They paused for a quick hello and picture and Andrew grabbed the stroller and took off with the babies! They rode in their first race and were quite content. They even got a mention from the announcer as Andrew crossed the finish line with babies in tow! Logan, Will and I are so proud!

We had a great time on our last beach trip of the summer! Thanks to Mom and Dad Morrow for planning and organizing the trip. We can't wait until next year when Will and Logan will be running around, covered in sand from head to toe!
